“The humor in the Barq’s campaign has a distinctly contemporary sensibility, i.e. aimed at the 18-24 market. In “Clown,” a bedraggled jester comes to a Barq’s stand, complaining that kids these days don’t get his act. He gets a free Barq’s from the sympathetic young vendor who says, “I know one kid who thinks you’re pretty special.” The funnyman looks at the vendor and says, “Let me tell you something,” as he leans in and squirts the vendor in the face with his flower boutonniere. “How special is that, man?” he asks, and walks away.”
