Brand Blogs Capture the Attention of Some Companies - New York Times

For those reading my blog via the New York Times article, thanks for stopping in. Tania Ralli did a great job with the article. I’m honored to be featured among the other bloggers mentioned in the article, especially Darren Rovell with his First In Thirst blog and Steve Rubel, a demigod of the blogosphere.

For the most entertainment on this site visit the commercials page, pour yourself a Barq’s and enjoy.

  2. Thanks for the welcome! I read about you in the article and was drawn to a site about Barqs root beer.

I love root beer, and I sometimes enjoy a Barqs. My only problem is that I don’t like caffeine. It seems that I can never be sure if Barqs has decided to put caffiene in the soda fountain or drink machine that I want to use. More than once I have bought a can out of the coin operated machine, or grabbed a 2 liter from the grocery store in a hurry, only to realize I have something I didn’t want. Why can’t they make up their minds? (all caffeine or no caffeine)

  3. Ken, Thanks for the comment. You’ve hit on one of my biggest concerns with Barq’s. The caffeine issue. The only reason Salt Lake bottles a caffeine free version of Barq’s is because the market demographics require it, and back in the early 90s (before Coke owned Barq’s), the bottlers were able to do things like that. We the consumers need to let Coca-Cola know that there is a demographic outside of Salt Lake that do not want caffeine in their root beer. I’ll be writing more on this topic soon. Thanks for raising your voice.

  4. […] From the New York Times to the Gilbert Republic…the papers have Barq’s Fever! “You may love Dr Pepper, drink an obscene amount of Coca-Cola or Pepsi, but it would be hard to match Michael Marx’s devotion to Barq’s root beer.” […]
